British Waterways' Tees Barrage
The building of the Tees Barrage has created a deep, clean waterway, making the river an excellent venue for water sports. Thanks to the barrage, the Tees is now a grade 'A' 2 star river!
The barrage has created a focus for waterside developments, new canals, a navigation lock, a fish path, canoe slalom course, warm up lake, caravan and camping park, leisure facilities and hotels.
